A Proper Family Pub

Welcome to The Top House — a family-owned pub nestled in the heart of New Coundon, Bishop Auckland. Open since 1998, we've spent over 25 years building our reputation on one simple promise: great food at prices that won't make you wince, served in an atmosphere that truly feels like home.

Whether you're dropping in for a hearty meal, a quiet pint at the bar or catching up with friends and family, you'll always find a warm seat and a friendly face waiting for you here.

Fantastic Sunday Roast!

5 of us went for Sunday lunch, good choice of beef, chicken, pork or gammon, large portions, cooked to perfection and very tasty, very friendly and attentive staff, lovely place to go when I visit family in the North East.

Beautiful cooking, great staff

The roast beef was beautifully cooked — it just melted in your mouth, plenty on the plate and staff were great. Ten out of ten, we will be going again on Sunday.
